International Maritime Organization (IMO) Data Collection System (DCS) : International Maritime Organization Data Collection System, IMO DCS
International Maritime Organization (IMO) implemented the Data Collection System (DCS) for the basic data collection and emission status analysis that is necessary for establishing greenhouse gas emission reduction plan for international marine transportation
Implementation Basis
Marine Pollution Treaty (MARPOL Annex Ⅵ, Reg.22A) : Collects the fuel oil usage and ship service information of the international ships with total tonnage over 5,000 tons.
Detailed Contents
- Receive authorization for SEEMP Part II from the responsible organization (RO) until December 31, 2018 and then keep in the vessel.
- Shipping enterprise shall submit detailed data to RO including annual usage per oil type, shipping service distance, shipping service duration, etc.
- RO shall verify the data reported by the shipping enterprise, then issue Statement of Compliance (SOC) and submit to the IMO data.

Emission factorCF is a non-dimensional conversion factor between fuel oil consumption and CO2 emission in the 2014 Guidelines on the method of calculation of the attained Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) for new ships (resolution MEPC.245(66)), as amended. The annual total amount of CO2 is calculated by multiplying annual fuel oil consumption and CF for the type of fuel.Emission factor Fuel oil Type CF
